Nestled in the heart of the Minervois appellation, the vineyard thrives in the village of Agel, between the Montagne Noire and the Causse de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois, within the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc.
At the Château d’Agel, terroir is not just a backdrop — it is the starting point of everything. Located at the eastern edge of the Minervois appellation, between the foothills of the Montagne Noire and the preserved landscapes of the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc, the vineyard thrives in an environment renowned for the richness and diversity of its soils.
Here, hills, plateaus and terraces shape a living landscape where vines coexist with garrigue, pine trees and oak forests. On the Cazelles plateau, stony clay-limestone soils scattered with white stones capture the day’s heat and release it at night, encouraging slow and balanced ripening. Further down, in the Cesse Valley, the Les Crozes parcel reveals a complex mosaic of rolled pebbles, sandstone and alluvial soils, bringing depth, structure and vibrancy to the wines.
This intimate connection between soil, climate and grape varieties only comes to life through the work of the winemaker. Every gesture is guided by the desire to express the identity of the place — from soil management to close vineyard observation, and harvests timed to the perfect ripeness of the grapes. Nothing is fixed here: each vintage is a unique interpretation of the terroir.

Committed to sustainable viticulture, the estate is certified HVE3 and is currently converting to organic farming. Practices focus on preserving soil life, natural balance, and eliminating unnecessary inputs. Some wines are also produced using vegan-friendly methods, in line with a broader environmental philosophy.
In the cellar, precision defines every step: plot-by-plot and varietal vinifications, carefully controlled fermentations, and tailored ageing processes. Whether matured in tank or oak, the wines of Château d’Agel pursue a single goal — to express the perfect balance between freshness, texture and terroir.
More than a signature, Château d’Agel wines are a reflection of a place, a commitment, and a vision: one of sincere, demanding winemaking deeply rooted in its land.
